Setting up two-factor authentication

In order to help protect your customer portal account, we've now added support for two-factor authentication. Two factor authentication helps protect your account by requiring that you not only know your password, but that you also have something with you -- in this case, your smartphone. This is entirely optional, but turning it on makes your customer portal account much safer.

To get started, you'll need to download an OATH OTP app on your smartphone. For iOS devices we recommend the HDE OTP app, and on Android we recommend the Google Authenticator app. You may already have an OATH OTP app on your smartphone (you may already be using Google Authenticator on your iOS device, for example). If this is the case, it's fine to use your existing app with our two-factor authentication system.

Once you've got an OATH OTP app installed on your smartphone, visit the security settings page in the customer portal, log in if you are asked to, and then click the green "Click here to enable" button to start the enrolment process. The customer portal will then walk you through the rest of the setup process.
